New products and approvals – March 2024

4th March 2024

BCPC’s Online UK Pesticide Guide provides the latest position with regards new entrants and approvals for products approved for use.
The following updates have been made to the UKPG database for March 2024.

  • Adama have confirmed that Maxentis (M 20809 azoxystrobin + prothioconazole) will be available this year and so it has been upgraded to a full entry. Currently it is approved for GB use only but a separate approval excluding the use on oats is expected for NI soon.
  • Sharda have an approval for deltamethrin (Bank, M 20808) which can be used on stored grains and pulses and which mimics K-Obiol ULV6 from Bayer. It has been added as PAR.
  • Adama have another novel mixture – chlorotoluron + diflufenican + flufenacet (M 20796, Chrome) which is currently listed as PAR.
  • Clayton has a new metsulfuron-methyl product called Clayton Lancer (M 20804) which mirrors the recommendations of Clayton Rally CX. It is currently listed as PAR.
  • Albaugh UK have approval for a 25% w/w formulation of florasulam called Clyde (M 20728) similar to Barton WG but which can also be used on rye and triticale as well as wheat, barley and oats. It has been listed as PAR until Albaugh confirm its availability.
  • Some parallel products are beginning to creep back into the market as Pan Agriculture gets a new approval for Ludo (cyprodinil + fludioxonil, M20815) specifically for GB use only. Ludo (M 20276) continues specifically for the NI market only. Also Pan Amenity has a GB approval for Shortcut (M 20813, prehexadione-calcium) to supplement the NI only approval of M 20300.
  • Use of Clayton El Nino (diflufenican) on rye and triticale is now limited to pre-emergence application only.
  • Corteva have two new herbicides for use in maize which will be available this year and which have been added as full entries to UKPG. Principle Forte (M20797) contains dicamba + nicosulfuron + rimsulfuron and Dragster (M 20396) contains rimsulfuron and thifensulfuron-methyl. They will also be marketing a new herbicide for rye, spelt, triticale and wheat – Memphis (M 20659) which contains halauxifen-methyl + pyroxsulam.
  • Bayer now has approval for their own 360 g/l glyphosate product called Bronco (M20841) which has been added as PAR until marketing is confirmed.
  • Steven Moss has informed us that there is widespread resistance to fenoxaprop-P-ethyl in blackgrass and that it is no longer on the Foxtrot, Oskar or Polecat labels and so blackgrass has been deleted from the fenoxaprop product entries.
  • Globachem have gained approval for a concentrated formulation of fluroxypyr. Called Flurostar Forte (M 20827) it contains 576 g/l fluroxypyr meptyl ester and is approved for use in cereals, forage maize, grassland and newly-sown grass leys. It is listed in UKPG as PAR until I can confirm that it will be marketed and I can get a copy of the label.
