FMC has gained approval for a new chloracetamide herbicide for use in winter oilseed rape up to the 3 leaf stage.  It is used elsewhere in the world as a rice herbicide where it is effective against annual grasses and broad-leaved weeds.  It has been added to the UKPG database as PAR until a copy of the label is available.

The loss of imidacloprid as a seed dressing devastated the oilseed rape crop as flea beetles ate most of it but it seems imidacloprid is still widely present in the environment because of its use on pets as a spot-on flea and tick killer.  There are calls for this use to also be curtailed but currently anyone can go and buy it to apply to their pets.  It must surely be restricted soon since this is probably what caused the adverse effects in the environment initially rather than its use as a seed treatment.

New Approvals by Company:

BASF Ag Solutions

  • has duplicated its mepiquat chloride + prohexadione –calcium product M21715 with a new MAPP No (M21716) for use in GB only but the approval of this extends to 28/2/2030 while the original expires in GB & NI 15/4/2028.
  • BASF has also duplicated Revyflex with a new MAPP No (M21791, mefentrifluconazole + metrafenone + pyraclostrobin) which lasts until 9/9/2099 in NI but expires in GB 31/10/2031. The original (M21046) also expires in GB 31/10/2031 but in NI it only lasts until 31/7/2028.
  • Another duplication is Stomp 400 SC (M21868). The approval of the new product runs until 9/9/2099 but the approval of the original now expires 31/7/2028.

Bayer

  • Bayer has gained approval for a new product very similar to Siltra Xpro. The new product is called Siltra Plus (M21858) and contains 5 g/l more bixafen and 10 g/l more prothioconazole but the max dose rate is reduced from 1.0 l/ha to 0.95 l/ha.  One for the marketing department I think.

FMC Agro

  • Koban (M217758) is a new winter oilseed rape herbicide containing penthoxamid, a chloracetamide herbicide and therefore similar to metazachlor in Butisan S. Once a label is received from FMC it will be upgraded to a full entry.
  • The company has gained approvals for Parana and Seduce (M21879 & 21861, thifensulfuron + tribenuron) which were sold by Certis Belchim but that company’s products (M16258 & 16261) now expire 31/1/2028 while the FMC approvals lasts until 30/4/2034.
  • FMC has also duplicated its carfentrazone-ethyl product Harrier under a new MAPP No (M21564) and while it was approved up to 9/9/2099, the original now expires 31/8/2030 but the new one lasts until 31/1/2036.
  • Also duplicated is Inka SX which now goes by MAPP 18760 and 21882 with the former now expiring 29/2/2028 and the new approval lasting until 30/4/2034,

Globachem

  • Has duplicated its Glotron 700 SC (metamitron) product with a new MAPP No (M21905) with identical uses and expiry date to the original.

Origin Amenity

  • Has duplicated the Headland Amenity iron sulphate product Greentec Mosskiller Pro under the same name with a new MAPP No (M21894) as they transfer the approvals from Headland to Origin.

Sipcam Home & Garden

  • Has two new acetic acid products approved under the name Hard Surface Weed and Mosskiller Pro (M21892) and Hytrol Concentrate (M21898) which have identical contents and recommendations to all the other acetic acid products.

UPL Europe

  • Has extended the options for use of Carpovirusine against moths by gaining approval for Carpovirusine Max and Carpovirusine Ultra which have quince and plums on the label in addition to apples and pears in GB only. Earliest application is when fruit is 90% final size.
  • UPL also has a new laminarin product called Plantivax (M21823) which unlike the other laminarin products that are only approved on wheat, this can be used on berry fruit such as blackberries, gooseberries, loganberries, raspberries, rubus hybrids, strawberries and protected strawberries. It has just a 1 day harvest interval and is likely to be active against powdery mildew but, until a label is available, it will remain listed as PAR.

EAMUs added:  With BASF plc morphing into BASF Agricultural Solutions (UK) Ltd and the re-registration of most products under new MAPP Nos for the new company name, many new EAMUs will be required since EAMUs are MAPP No specific.  Some of these are detailed in the list of new EAMUs below.

  • Ambarac (M17971, metconazole) has an EAMU allowing treatment of various diseases in winter and spring linseed. Note that use in GB and NI is covered by EAMUs with different numbers.
  • Borneo (M18873, etoxazole) has two EAMUs allowing treatment of protected ornamentals and protected strawberries for control of tw0-spotted spider mite.
  • Carex (M21664, mepiquat chloride + metconazole) has an EAMU allowing treatment of winter mustard for growth regulation.
  • Elesein (M21671, boscalid + pyraclostrobin) has an EAMU allowing treatment of botrytis and leaf spot in protected and outdoor gooseberries.
  • Gazelle SG (M20034, acetamiprid) has an EAMU allowing treatment of large pine weevils in ornamentals under permanent protection with full enclose in GB only. It also has an emergency approval for treatment of aphids in baby leaf crops and lettuce up until 14th Oct 2026 in GB only. A similar emergency approval is available in NI for M21286 but this only covers baby leaf crops and not lettuce.
  • Katamaran Turbo (M21679, dimethenamid-P + metazachlor + quinmerac) has an EAMU for use in winter corn gromwell up to the 7 leaf stage.
  • Percos (M21760, ametoctradin + dimethomorph) has 3 EAMUs allowing treatment of ornamentals, protected ornamentals, table & wine grapes and hops for downy mildew.
  • Romeo (M19170, cerevisane) has an EAMU allowing treatment of botrytis, powdery mildew and scab in apples, medlars, pears and quince.
  • Signum (M21677, boscalid + pyraclostrobin) is the new approval for Signum and it now has 18 EAMUs covering disease control in a wide range of outdoor and protected vegetables. One of the EAMUs covers use on indoor vegetation!
  • Teppeki (M20213, flonicamid) has an EAMU which allows treatment of aphids and lettuce root aphid on lettuce and endives grown on organic media (not artificial media such as rockwool) under permanent protection with full enclosure.
  • Wing-P (M21672, dimethenamid-P + pendimethalin) is the new approval for Wing-P and it now has 11 EAMUs covering broad-leaved weed and annual meadowgrass control control in a wide range of outdoor vegetables and ornamentals.

Changes to approval expiry dates:  CRD have extended the approvals of a number of products and actives, most of which are detailed below.

  • Amisulbrom + mandipropamid: The approval of Evagio Forte (M20854) has been extended to 15/3/2029.
  • Ampelomyces quisqualis: The approval of AQ 10 (M19968) has been extended to 1/2/2036.
  • Azoxystrobin + difenoconazole: The approval of Zoxis Top has been extended to 21/6/2030.
  • Boscalid + mefentrifluconazole: The approval of Revydas has been reduced to 31/7/2030 while the new approval for BASF Ag Solutions runs until 30/9/2030.
  • Boscalid + pyraclostrobin: The approval of Shepherd (M 19880) has been reduced to 31/7/2028 but the new approval for BASF Ag Solutions runs also expires on this date.
  • Clomazone: The approval of Clomastar has been extended to 15/3/2029.
  • Cyprodinil + fludioxonil: The approvals of Clayton Creed, Modif, Switch and Shift have been extended to 31/3/2029.
  • Difenoconazole + fludioxonil: The approvals of Celest Extra, Defend Extra and Instrata Elite have been extended to 31/3/2029.
  • Diflufenican: The approvals of products containing straight diflufenican or diflufenican + florasulam have been extended to 28/2/2030.
  • Dimethenamid-P + metazachlor + quinmerac: The approval of Shadow (M 16804) has been extended to 15/3/2029 but the new approval for BASF Ag Solutions runs until 9/9/2099.
  • Ethephon + mepiquat chloride: The approval of Terpal (M 16463) has been reduced to 31/7/2030 in GB but the new approval for BASF Ag Solutions runs until 31/8/2031.
  • Fluazinam: The approval of Shirlan (M20198) has been extended to 31/5/2030.
  • Fludioxonil: The approvals of Geoxe, Maxim 100FS, Maxim 480FS, Medallion TL and Treso SC have been extended to 31/3/2029.
  • Fludioxonil + pyrimethanil: The approval of Pomax has been extended to 31/3/2029.
  • Fluroxypyr: The approval Hoist from Agform technologies (M21155) has been extended to 15/8/2029.
  • Fludioxonil + sedaxane: The approval of Vibrance Duo (M17838) has been extended to 31/3/2029.
  • Flonicamid: The approval of Afinto and Hinode has been extended by 1 year to 25/9/2028.
  • Folpet: The approval of many products containing folpet has been extended to 31/1/2032. However, some older approvals expire in NI on 22/5/2027 or 15/8/2027 while others only last in GB until 15/8/2028. Mostly these older approvals have been replaced by more recent MAPP Nos with approval in NI extended to 9/9/2099!  A very confused situation and note that this includes co-formulations with other actives.
  • Fluopyram + prothioconazole + tebuconazole: The approval of Raxil Star has been extended to 30/9/2029.
  • Lenacil: The approvals of Lenzar Flo 500 SC, Venzar 80 WP and Venzar 500 SC have been extended to 30/6/2030 but note that Lenzar Flo and Venzar WP are now only approved for use in GB. Only Venzar 500 SC (M18799) is now for use in NI where it is approved until 9/9/2099.
  • Mefentrifluconazole: The approval of Vauo (M21549) has been reduced to 31/7/2030.
  • Metrafenone: The approval of Flexity & Vivando (M11775 & 18026) has been reduced to 31/7/2028 in NI but continues in GB until 31/7/2030. This is one of the BASF products that has been duplicated under the BASF Agricultural Solutions banner and the new Flexity & Vivando (M21786 & 21813) lasts until 31/10/2031 in GB but currently 9/9/2099 in NI!
  • Mepanipyram: The approval of Frupica SC has been reduced to 31/1/2028 in GB and it is not approved in NI.
  • Metsulfuron + tribenuron: The approval of Equator SX has been extended to 30/3/2030.
  • Pendimethalin: The approval of Torres (M19017) has been reduced to 31/7/2028 while the new approval for BASF Ag Solutions runs until 9/9/2099.
  • Prohexadione-calcium: The approval of Regalis Plus has been extended to 31/7/2030 while the new approval for BASF Ag Solutions (M21835) runs until 15/11/2030.
  • Potassium Phosphonates: The approval of Soriale (M 19166) has been extended to 31/7/2030 but the new approval for BASF Ag Solutions runs until 31/1/2032.

Withdrawals:

  • Norgett (M21244, fluroxypyr) from Albaugh now expires 31/8/2026 and has been deleted from the database.
  • Odin 250 EW (M20627, tebuconazole) from Albaugh now expires 31/8/2026 and has been deleted from the database.
