The government is in the process of re-aligning UK pesticide legislation with that in Europe and while this could simplify the situation for approvals in Northern Ireland, the devil will be in the detail and this has not yet been agreed. The plan is to finalise the new agreement by mid-2027 and more details are given at: read more at GOV.UK.
Also of interest are two new active ingredient combinations – clomazone + dimethenamid-P from BASF and cyazofamid + valifenalate from Certis Belchim. See below for details.
New Approvals by Company:
Certis Belchim
- has a novel potato fungicide containing cyazofamid + valifenalate. The product is called Areli (M21603) and it is listed as a full entry following confirmation of intent to sell this season.
- The company has also duplicated its Sunfire product with a new MAPP No (M21620, flufenacet) for use in GB only with no changes from the current product (M16745).

For Cleancrop National the original is marketed by Agrii while the new approval is listed as marketed by Origin. Both Domitrels are marketed by Syngenta. The expiry dates have been amended to 31/3/2028 for the Originals while approval of the new ones lasts until 15/7/2029.
Agrii

FMC
- has duplicated the approval of Harmony M SX (M18824 & 21643, metsulfuron + thifensulfuron-methyl) with amendments to the expiry dates. The original now expires 30/9/2027 while the new one lasts until 28/2/2029. Previously the expiry date was 9/9/2099!
- A similar exercise has been done with Avro SX (M18771 & 21636, metsulfuron-me + thifensulfuron-me).
Nufarm
- has obtained a Herboxone 60 approval from FMC (M21616, 2,4-D) which includes the use on wheat, barley, oats and rye undersown with grass or clover.
- The company has also re-introduced a straight dichlorprop-P product called Flavius (M21601) which is approved for use in wheat, barley and oats.
Agronaturalis
- has gained a new approval for its Karbicure (M21552, potassium hydrogen carbonate) which is approved for use in GB only until 29/2/2032 and which adds oilseed rape to the list of approved crops while the approval of the original product in both GB and NI is reduced to 31/8/2027.
Albaugh
- has duplicated its Axentum and Multivo 500 SC folpet products with new MAPP Nos (M21597, 21609 & 21610) which, unlike the originals (M21503 & 21539), are approved for use in GB and M21503, M21540 & 21542 are only approved for use in GB.

- The company has also duplicated its Branch product with a new MAPP No (M21621, mepiquat chloride + prohexadione calcium). Both products are only approved for use in GB but the new approval also adds oats and spring barley to the label.
- Also new to the Sharda portfolio is Meqi (M21637, metazahlor + quinmerac) which mimics Katamaran from BASF in oilseed rape.
BASF
- has gained approval for a new product containing clomazone and di-methenamid-P (M21454) which can be used for pre-emergence weed control in oilseed rape, peas and beans with the approval including soya beans. It is currently listed as PAR but will be upgraded to a full entry when confirmed by BASF.
- BASF has also copied its fluxapyroxad + mefentrifluconazole product Lentyma XE (M19301) with a new name and MAPP No (Revygold, M21594) but while Lentyma XE expires 30/11/2027, Revygold approval runs until 30/4/2030.

- Bayer has also duplicated its diflufenican + flufenacet product Herold with a new MAPP No (M21629) for use in GB only, updating the hazard precautions to the new standardised wording (H… instead of R…).
