Many existing products are being duplicated with new MAPP Nos even when there is no change to the approval holder or marketing company. Is this due to minor changes in the formulation? If so, data will have been presented to CRD to confirm equivalence of activity but I am not aware of anywhere where this information is published so I assume equivalence has been proven to the satisfaction of CRD.
New Approvals:
- Adama has duplicated its approval of Anthem (pendimethalin) and while the original M15761) was approved until 9/9/2099, it now expires 31/1/2028 whilst the new approval (M21571) runs until 15/7/2029. Adama has also added triticale to the approval of Soratel (M19636, prothioconazole).
- Bayer has a new seed dressing in Susteed (M21354, Bacillus amyloliquifaciens strain QST 713) approved for use on 46 named vegetable crops before planting. Products that contained Bacillus subtilis (QST 713) such as Serenade ASO (M16139 & 21020) have also been re-classified as containing B. amyloliqifaciens strain QST 713. Bayer has also been able to remove the restriction on isoflucypram products that previously limited the dose to no more than 75 g/ha every two years.
- Bayer has also confirmed that it will be marketing Vivalis (M21256, isoflucypram + prothioconazole) in GB only this year so it has been upgraded to a full entry. It is approved for use on wheat, barley, oats, triticale, rye and spelt in GB only. They have also gained a new MAPP No for Firebird (M21587, diflufenican + flufenacet) which is approved for use in GB only and which has the updated label precautions.
- Sharda continues to expand its portfolio with a Centurion Max mimic called Class (M21559, clethodim) which has been listed as PAR. Sharda has also duplicated its approval of Prince under a new MAPP No (M21549) with the approval lasting until 31/8/2031.
- Syngenta has a new product called Daltrice which mimics Murcia of Life Scientific (M21593, iodosulfuron-methyl-sodium + mesosulfuron-ethyl) but unlike Murcia which is only approved on winter wheat, Daltrice may be applied to winter and spring wheat, winter rye, spelt and triticale.
- Agrii has re-registered its fluroxypyr product Decathlon as Decathlon 200 (M21567) with the marketing company changed from Masstock to Agrii.
- CAC Chemical GmbH has added to its growing portfolio of products with an approval of Helmstar 75 WG (M21581, tribenuron-methyl) which is approved until 9/9/2099. The original Helmstar from Belchim now expires 28/2/26 and has been deleted from the database whilst Helmstar from Helm now expires 31/1/2030. CAC Chemical has also gained an approval for Trimeo 75 WG (M21583, tribenuron-methyl) but the original Belchim approval currently still runs until 9/9/2099. Another addition is the approval for Tribun 75 WG (M21584, tribenuron-me) which runs until 9/9/2099 but the original Tribun 75 WG from Helm (M19953) now expires 31/1/2030.
- Clayton now has two nicosulfuron products for weed control in forage and grain maize , one a 75% w/w granule called Clayton Dialect (M21586) based on Templier (M21224) and a 40.8 g/l OD formulation (M21585, Clayton Delilah) based on Bandera, both from Albaugh. Clayton has also confirmed that it will be marketing its Broadway Star mimics in Clayton Aintree and Clayton Rockstar (M21381 & 21319, florasulam + pyroxsulam) and these have been upgraded to full entries. They have done the same with their Wolverine mimics Clayton Libra and Clayton Quintus (M21353 & 21358, fluxapyroxad + metconazole). Also new for Clayton is Clayton Rebar (M21615, trinexapac-ethyl) which mimics its Clayton T-Pac, both approved for use in GB only.
- YC Agro has gained approval of a Galera mimic in Astraios (M21557, clopyralid + picloram) for use in GB only for weed control in winter oilseed rape.
- Sumitomo has a new esfenvalerate product in Fielder 2.5 EC (M21572) with identical claims to its other four esfenvalerate products.
- Hockley now has its own 360 g/l glyphosate product in Hi-fosate (M21577) but it lacks the approval on asparagus or vining peas that some other 360 g/l glyphosate products carry. It is specified for use in GB only but the same product with a different MAPP No (M21591) is approved for use in NI only. Both have an expiry date of 9/9/2099.
- FMC has gained a correction to Provalia (M21336, fluroxypy + metsulfuron-me + thifensulfuron-me) which adds spring barley and spring wheat to the approval to complement the original use on winter barley and winter wheat. FMC has also duplicated the approval of Chimera SX (metsulfuron-methyl + thifensulfuron-methyl) with a new MAPP No (M21101). Previously the approval was until 9/9/2099 but now the original expires 31/8/2027 while M21101 lasts until 28/2/2029.
- Sumitomo has a new bacterial insecticide approved for use in GB only. Xen Tari WG (M21497, Bacillus thuringiensis aizawai ABTS-1857) can be used against insect pests in a range of crops including brassicas, leeks, lettuce, spinach, apples, pears, table & wine grapes, protected broad, dwarf and runner beans and named protected crops under permanent protection with full enclosure, all with just a 1 day harvest interval. Sumitomo copied me in on the approval document so it has been upgraded to a full entry.
- Environmental Science 2022 has launched a new mixture of herbicides for weed control on railway track ballast. It is called Valdor Trio and contains foramsulfuron, iodosulfuron-methyl-sodium and thiencarbazone-methyl. One application per year is permitted with different MAPP Nos for use in GB (M21605) and NI (M21606). Approval runs until 31/1/2032 in GB but only until 1/9/2029 in NI.
EAMUs added:
- Mainman (M20214, flonicamid) has an EAMU allowing treatment of peppers and chillies under permanent protection with full enclosure that is due to expire 30/4/2026 but a fresh EAMU has now been issued that covers this use up until 31/5/2029.
- Filan (M11049, boscalid) has 6 new EAMUs allowing treatment of poppies, seed crops, cabbages, grapes, borage, canary flower, honesty, corn gromwell, evening primrose, linseed and mustard.
- SL 567A (M20652, metalaxyl-M) already has an EAMU permitting treatment of downy mildew in herbs, baby leaf crops, spinach and spinach beet etc but it expires 31/3/2026 so it has been re-issued with a new number (2026 0180) which runs until 10/7/2027 when CRD will probably issue it under a new number. Surely it would be easier to just extend the expiry date?
- Quidam (17595, prosulfocarb) has an EAMU allowing early post-em application to celeriac, carrots, horseradish, parsley root, parsnips and salsify. Protected crops are included in the approval.
- Anthem (M21571, pendimethalin) has 3 new EAMUs allowing pre-em application to broad beans, game cover and bulb onions, garlic & shallots whether drilled, transplanted or from sets. It also allows post emergence application up until before the second leaf is visible.
- Rudis (M14122, prothioconazole) has just gained an EAMU allowing treatment of celeriac for Septoria.
