The Labour government is proposing to automatically adopt EU legislation as part of the process of re-alignment with Europe and this will probably affect pesticide legislation. However, it is not yet clear what the impact will be. Could actives that are no longer approved in Europe be lost from the UK armoury? See: BBC report on this matter.
New Approvals by Company:
SipCam
- has a duplicated its Most Micro product with a new MAPP No (M20730, pendimethalin) and while the original expires 30/9/2027, the new approval lasts until 15/7/2029.
Syngenta
- has a new mandipropamid product in Revus Neo M21639 only approved on potatoes. It is an OD formulation and allows 6 applications per crop.
Certis Belchim BV
- has duplicated its Firecloud, Starfire & System 50 (M21649, 21647 & 21648, flufenacet) for use in GB only with approval until 24/2/2030. The originals (M18175 & 18179) are approved until 30/3/2030 in GB but, like other flufenacets, expires in NI at the end of this year.
• The company has also now obtained an approval for Iconic (M21650, flufenacet) for use in GB only. Iconic as M19094 is marketed by Adama for use in winter wheat and winter barley but the Certis approval also includes spring wheat and spring barley at a lower dose rate.
CAC GmbH
- has obtained the right from Helm to market Modan, Trexstar and Trexxus (triexepac-ethyl) under a new MAPP Nos M21642, 21652 & 21651.
Nufarm
- has duplicated its Paramount Max approval with a new MAPP No (M21487. Florasulam + tribenuron-methyl). The original now expires 30/9/2027 while the new MAPP No lasts until 30/6/2033.
FMC Agro
- has duplicated its fluroxypyr + thifensulfuron-methyl product Sentrallas LQM under a new name of Ampato LQM (M21656). Both are approved for use in GB and NI but are currently only listed as PAR until marketing is confirmed. FMC Agro has also duplicated Mozaic SX (metsulfuron + thifensulfuron, M18759 & 21659) and Ratio SX (thifensulfuron + tribenuron, M18786 & 21607). Both Mozaic SX and Ratio SX were approved until 9/9/2099 but the expiry dates for the Mozaics are 31/10/2027 & 28/2/2029 while for Ratio SX they are 30/9/2027 & 30/4/2034.
Sharda
- has now gained approval for an Amistar Top mimic called Azad (M21590, azoxystrobin + difenoconazole) for use in GB only on brassicas, leeks and strawberries.
Finchimica - has gained approval for a Crystal mimic called Orionova (M21617, flufenacet + pendimethalin) but, unlike Crystal, the approval is limited to GB only and includes application to spring wheat and spring barley. The dose rates are lower but are allowed up to 6 tillers post-emergence. It is currently listed as PAR until marketing is confirmed and a label is available.
Rainbow
- now has its own Captan product in Colpane (M21604) for use in apples and pears in GB only.
Syngenta
- has expanded the list of approved crops on the SL 567A label (M20652, metalaxyl-M) to include broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, collards, kale, bulb onions, leeks and outdoor and protected lettuce.
EAMUs added:
- Cleancrop National (M21631, pendimethalin) now has two EAMUs allowing pre-emergence treatment of cleavers and other weeds in game cover and broad beans.
- Minecto One (M18649, cyantraniliprole) has four new EAMUs – two for GB and NI and two for use in GB only. The GB & NI approvals allow treatment of various insect pests in outdoor and protected crops of baby leaf crops, cress, endives, lambs lettuce, land cress, parsley, purslane, red mustard, rocket and spinach beet. The GB only ones allow treatment of insect pests in outdoor and protected listed herb crops.
- Pirim (M19348, pyrimethanil) has two new EAMUs allowing treatment for botrytis in outdoor and protected blackberries and raspberries.
- Praxim (M20209, metobromuron) has an EAMU allowing treatment of asparagus. Newly-sown crops must be treated pre-em while established crops must be treated after final spear harvest. Do not harvest spears in the same calendar year of treatment.
- Silvanto Prime (M21263, flupyradifurone) has an EAMU in vegetable brassicas for the control of aphids and swede midge with a 7 day harvest interval.
Changes to approval expiry dates: CRD has extended the approvals of a number of products and actives, most of which are detailed below.
- Azoxystrobin: The approval of Sinstar Pro has been reduced by one month to 31/10/2029 and the approval of Clayton Augusta has been extended to 30/11/2029.
- Bixafen + fluoxastrobin + prothioconazole: The approval of Variano Xpro has been reduced from 9/9/2099 to 31/7/2029.
- Bixafen + prothioconazole: The approval of Aviator 235 Xpro and Siltra Xpro has been extended to 30/9/2029.
- Bixafen + prothioconazole + tebuconazole: The approval of Skyway 285 Xpro and Spartacus Xpro has been extended to 15/2/2029.
- Boscalid + metconazole: The approval of Highgate & Tectura has been extended by one year to 15/9/2028.
- Chlormequat: The approval of Jadex-0-720 has been extended by three years to 31/8/2029.
- Deltamethrin: The approval of CropProtect 25EC and Deserve has been amended to 15/2/2029
- Ethephon: Note that approval of products containing ethephon in NI expires 15/5/2027 but continues in GB mostly until 31/1/2032.
- Fluoxastrobin, prothioconazole + trifloxystrobin: The approval of Jaunt and Haven has been reduced from 9/9/2099 to 31/7/2029.
- Fluroxypyr + halauxifen-methyl: The approval of Pixxaro EC, Trophy XL and Whorl, M17545, 20820 & 17919 has been extended to 15/8/2029.
- Fluxapyroxad + metconazole: The approval of Affilex & LS Fluxa Metco have been extended in GB to 31/10/2030 but expires in NI 15/9/2027. The approval of Vastimo & Wolverine has been extended by one year to 15/9/2028 in both GB and NI.
- Isopyrazam +/- azoxystrobin, cyprodinil or prothioconazole: The approval of all products containing isopyrazam has been reduced by 1 year and is set to expire 30/9/2027. Examples of the 10 products involved are Bontima, Prism and Symetra.
- Isoflucypram + prothioconazole: The approval of Resalis and Scorpio has been reduced to 15/4/2030. They are only approved for use in GB.
- Metconazole: The approvals of Ambarac, Aptrell 90, Artina EC, Caramba, Caramba 90, Cavern, Cleancrop Trimet, Conatra 60, Juventus M15528, Librax, Life Scientific Metconazole, Metal, Metfin & Metfin 90, Plexeo & Plexeo 60, Quickstep, Remocco 90, Simveris, Sirena, Sunorg Pro and Turret have been extended by one year to 15/9/2028 or 31/10/2030 depending on product but some approved in NI expire 15/9/2027.
- Mepiquat chloride + metconazole: The approval of Carex has been extended by one year to 15/9/2028.
- Orange oil: The approval of Sinala Ultra has been extended to 30/9/2027.
- Pinoxaden: The approval of Axial Pro has been extended to 30/6/2032.
- Prothioconazole: The approval of Ecana, Folicur, Profound, Proline 275 and Glacis has been extended to 30/9/2029. The approval of Proline has been extended to 15/2/2029.
- Prothioconazole + spiroxamine: The approval of Patton SPX, Torch Duo & Helix has been extended to 30/9/2029.
- Prothioconazole + spiroxamine + tebuconazole: The approval of Ascra Xpro has been extended to 30/9/2029. The approval of Cello and Silvacur Trio has been extended to 15/2/2029.
- Prothioconazole + tebuconazole: The approval of Kestrel, Pevi, Prosaro & Versacto has been extended by one year to 15/2/2029.
- Sulphur + tebuconazole: The approval of Unicorn DF has been extended to 15/2/2029.
- Tebufenpyrad: The approval of Shirudo has been extended to 31/7/2029.
Withdrawals:
• Abran 250, Dagda, Patton, Teko 250 & Trinity 250 (M21499, 21474, 21475, 21468 & 21469, prothioconazole) are no longer listed on the CRD database but continues under MAPP Nos 19737, 19803, 19804, 20750 & 19732 which are approved for use in both GB and NI. M21499, 21474, 21475, 21468 & 21469 were only approved for use in GB.
• K-Obiol EC 25 and K-Obiol ULV6 (M13573 & 13572, deltamethrin) have expired and have been deleted from the database but both have been replaced by two new MAPP Nos each with approvals specific for either GB (M20254 & 20174) or NI (M20253 & 20310). GB approvals last until 30/4/2032 while NI approvals expire 15/2/2029.
• Surrender (M19203, glyphosate) expires 15/6/2026 in Northern Ireland but continues in GB until 9/9/2099.
