BCPC’s Online UK Pesticide Guide – New products and approvals June 2025

29th May 2025

Updates to UKPG database for June 2025

There have been a number of duplications of approvals this month where a product name gains an additional MAPP No with no apparent change in content, crops or expiry date.  Perhaps there has been a subtle change to the formulation but this is not apparent from the CRD approval issued but I wouldn’t have thought that a minor change would require a new MAPP No.

New Approvals:

  • Gemini has a new chlormequat for use in GB only in Sigrun CCC 720 (M21304) which has been added as PAR.
  • VextaChem has a new 120 g/l clethodim product in V-Dim 120 EC which mimics Select Prime and so is approved on sugar beet and winter oilseed rape only.
  • Sharda has a new Canopy mimic in Branch (M21297, mepiquat chloride + prohexadione calcium) that is approved in GB only and which is only approved in winter crops of wheat, rye, barley and triticale. It lacks the oats and spring barley recommendations of Canopy.  Sharda has also now obtained approval for a mimic of Jade from Syngenta (M21300, prosulfocarb).
  • Greenforce Profesional Weedkiller has been duplicated under a new MAPP No (M21294, dicamba + mecoprop-P) by Hygeia.
  • Life Scientific has a new Wolverine mimic in LS Fluxa-Metco (M21279, fluxapyroxad + metconazole) for disease control in cereals. They have also renewed the approval of LS Fluxapyroxad for GB and NI under a new MAPP No (M21276) with the old approval (M20881) now expiring 31/5/2025 since it was restricted to GB only.
  • Albaugh UK has duplicated the approval of Oceal (M21282, dicamba) under this new MAPP No and reduced the approval of the original Rotam product (M15618) to 31/3/2028.
  • Sharda has a Terpal mimic in Bushel (M21299, ethephon + mepiquat chloride) approved for use in GB only.
  • Bayer has duplicated most of their products containing flufenacet with new MAPP Nos but identical expiry dates of 15/12/2027. The exception is Asset which now has two MAPP Nos (M20965 & 21306) with different expiry dates of 31/5/2029 and 15/12/2027.  Duplicated flufenacet products are Alternator Met, Artist, Asset, Bacara Duo, Cadou Met, Coliseum, Cougar, Expert, Expert Met, Fosburi Super, Giddo, Liberator, Liberator XL, Movon, Octavian Met, Proteam, Regatta and Rainbow.
  • Duplication must be catching because Agrii has now duplicated their difulfenican + flufenacet product with a new MAAP No but identical expiry date so Cleancrop Jab is now approved as both M19731 and M21315.
  • Agform Ltd no longer markets any products but has transferred many of its more popular products to Agfrom Technologies with new MAPP Nos. Products to be marketed include Hoist, Hopper, Marauder, Nanotron, Prothiolux and Surform.
  • Clayton has a Broadway Star mimic in Clayton Rockstar (M21319, florasulam + pyrosulam). The company has also duplicated their Clayton Canyon SC (M20765 & 21327, folpet) but the new MAPP No is approved for use in GB only.
  • The approval of the seed treatment Fountain has been transferred from Certis to Corteva with a new MAPP No (M21281, fludioxonil + tebuconazole).
  • Corteva has also acquired a new name for Cardinal (fluroxypyr + halauxifen-methyl + tricloptr) which is now also approved as Speedline Pro (M21316) but is only approved for use on amenity grassland in GB.
  • Insyst (acetamiprid) is now also approved as a water-soluble granule (M21334) as well as the original powder formulation with identical recommendations but a slightly shorter approval period which currently runs until 24/1/2027.
  • Enviroscience has renewed the approval of Valdor Expert (diflufenican + iodosulfuron-methyl-sodium) for use in GB (M21291) and in NI (M21292) but the application is now restricted to ornamental plant production only. Previously it was on amenity vegetation, railway tracks, hard surfaces etc.
  • Landseer has duplicated their spinosad product Tracer under a new name (Spintor, M 21326) which has identical recommendations except for the omission of Chinese cabbage which is covered by the existing ‘oriental cabbage’ approval.

EAMUs added:

  • Amistar (M18039, azoxystrobin) now has an EAMU for use in outdoor and protected rhubarb for control of grey mould (Botrytis).
  • Gazelle SG (M20034, acetamiprid) has 6 EAMUs approved for use in GB and NI covering a wide range of crops but they all expire 19/6/2025 to be replaced by EAMUs with new numbers that are only approved for use in GB. The use in NI continues also with new EAMU numbers for Gazelle SG with a different MAPP No (M21286) with an identical expiry date!  Such an efficient use of time and resources.

Changes to approval expiry dates:  CRD have extended the approvals of a number of products and actives, most of which are detailed below.

  • The approval of Terpal (M20325) from PSI has been extended to 15/4/2027 in NI. It is not approved in GB where Terpal from BASF is available.
  • The approval of Amistar and other azoxystrobin straights has been extended to 30/11/2029 in GB but currently parallel approvals remain 30/6/2027 in NI.
  • The approval of Futureco Nofly WP has been reduced to 30/6/2026 in GB but extended in NI to 30/11/2029. It contains Paecilomyces fumosoroseus and is used to control insect pests in cucurbits and ornamental plant production.
  • The approval of Luxinum Plus (M19978, cinmethylin) has been extended to 6/12/2034 in GB only. It is still not approved in NI.
  • The approval of Thiopron (M20671, sulphur) has been extended to 31/1/2029.
  • The approval of DP 717 (M20355, oxathiapiprolin) has been extended to 3/9/2029.
  • The approval of Hyflux GB (M19015, fluroxypyr) has been extended to 15/8/2029.

Withdrawals:

  • Clayton Mizen and Clayton Mizuna (M19207 & M19659, metribuzin) have been withdrawn from sale in NI since approval there expires 24/11/2025. Similarly, Cleancrop Frizbee, Clopes, Gribuz, Lauren 70 WG, Matecor New, Metricam, Petricor, Python, Sencorex Flow and Shotput – all metribuzin products.
  • The approval of products containing dimethomorph expires in NI on 20/5/2025 but two products Coronam (M20906) and Cassiopeia (M16522, dimethomorph + pyraclostrobin) continue in GB only.
  • The approval of spirotetramat products in NI now expires 31/10/2025 which affects Clayton Occupy (M19899) and Spiropan (M20289). Batavia (M18449), Movento (M18435) & Spitopan (M20919) continue in GB only.
  • Metric (M16720, clomazone + metribuzin) was the only product containing this mixture of actives but is no longer approved by CRD and should not be applied to crops.
  • Clethodim from Sipcam (Buccaneer, Gauntlet and Varsity but not Lightning) are listed as being approved for use in Spring rape in the 2025 edition of UKPG. This was true when these products were first approved in 2022 but new approvals were issued in 2024 which only listed winter oilseed rape and sugar beet.  The database has now been corrected and, although the CRD web site still lists these products as approved on Spring OSR, referencing the latest approval documents shows that they are no longer approved on SOSR.
