Published by BCPC for over fifty years. This twentieth edition of The Pesticide Manual has been extensively revised and updated to reflect the continued development of pesticide science. The Number 1 source for pesticide data.
WHAT’S NEW?
In this latest edition the Environmental Fate section has been completely revamped and updated. New fields have been added (Plant Fate, Soil Fate, Soil Half Life, Soil Absorption Coefficients.
In addition, the Hydrolytic Stability and Aqueous Photolytic Stability fields, have now been moved to Environmental Fate. Taken together, these data provide a comprehensive overview of how a pesticide may behave in the soil or water and how it may metabolize in plants or degrade in the environment.
Two new fields that describe the behavior of a pesticide once ingested by animals (typically rats) have also been added to the Environmental Fate section (Animal Absorption and Excretion, and Animal Metabolism).
There have been two additional significant changes to this edition of The Pesticide Manual. First, the Insecticide Resistance Action Committee (IRAC) has developed a separate mode of action classification scheme for nematicides; now included as “IRAC Nematicide”. Second, the EU Approval Expiration Approval date is now included along with the EU Status under the Regulatory section.
These are in addition to the following upgrades in the previous edition
- “Stability” section now split by “hydrolytic stability”, “aequeous photolytic stability” and “thermal stability””.
- CIPAC codes also now included where available.
- Nomenclature section includes IUPAC and CAS names plus CAS RN for esters and salts of active ingredients
- EPA pesticide codes (PC) added
- AOEL (Acceptable Operator Exposure Level) included along with ADI (Acceptable Daily Intake) and RfD *(acute and chronic Reference Doses)
Over 1400 pages packed full of pesticide data, including:
*** Chemical structure, target site of action, field of use, resistance code, chemical class *** Nomenclature – IUPAC, Chemical abstract names, CAS RN, EPA pesticide code, EC Number and development codes *** Physical chemistry properties, history, manufacturer, patents, route of action and spectrum, uses, formulation types *** NEW regulatory section with references to toxicological and regulatory reviews, WHO toxicity and IARC classifications *** Current status of EU and US EPA registrations *** Ecotoxicology data covering birds, fish, aquatic organisms, worms and bees *** Environmental fate information for animals, plants, soil and the environment ***
