30th June 2025

With a dedicated editor  and the online nature of the Pesticide Manual and the Compendium of Common Pesticide Names  both products will keep you abreast of all the essential data on new and existing pesticides. Below are the latest updates made for June 2024.

New pesticides added to the Pesticide Manual and Compendium of Pesticide Common Names

  •  bifemetstrobin – A fungicide from Sumitomo Chemical Co. This material represents the first example in a new class of strobilurin fungicides (MET III electron transport inhibition, QoI site). In this new class, the acrylate moiety is attached to a phenyl through an oxygen linkage instead of a direct carbon-carbon bond as in typical strobilurins.
  •  metcyclofenstrobin – A fungicide from Syngenta AG. An analogue of bifemetstrobin and the second in this new strobilurin class.
  •  fluquinometoate – A bactericide from Shandong United Pesticide Industry Co., Ltd. A derivative of the well-known quinolone class of antibiotics.
  •  sulfoxamyl – A carbamate nematicide from Ningxia HugeRise Chemical Co., Ltd. This material is an oxidation product of oxamyl, a classic AChE inhibitor.
  •  isoxafenacil – An N-phenyl imide from Nantong Jiangshan Agrochemical and Chemicals Co. Ltd. An analog of this well-known class of PPO inhibitors.
  •  trioxyflanilide – A meta-diamide insecticide from Zhejiang Udragon Pesticides and Chemicals Co., Ltd. A simple analogue of both broflanilide and cyproflanilide, GABA-gated chloride channel allosteric modulators.
  •  quinaminoprole – A quinazoline fungicide from Jiangsu Yangnong Chemical Co., Ltd. The mode-of-action has not been reported but the material is structurally analogous to the large class of aminoazole MET I electron transport inhibitors.
  •  prochlorosulfone – A benzoylpyrazole herbicide from Shandong Binnong Technology Co. Ltd. An analog of this well-known class of HPPD inhibitors.
  •  toxapyzone – A benzoylpyrazole herbicide from Shandong Dehao Chemical Co., Ltd. Yet another example of this well-known class of HPPD inhibitors.
  •  flufenazopyr – A herbicide from Qingdao KingAgroot Chemical Compound Co., Ltd. The mode-of-action is not known but likely an inhibitor of phytoene desaturase (PDS).
  •  dimepyrolimet – A herbicide from Qingdao KingAgroot Chemical Compound Co., Ltd. An analog of tetflupyrolimet from FMC; the latter represents a new class of dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) inhibitors.
  •  flufenauxirim – A herbicide from Qingdao KingAgroot Chemical Compound Co., Ltd. An analog of the pyrimidinecarboxylic acid auxinic herbicides pioneered by Corteva Agriscience.
  •  vinylfluthrin – A pyrethroid insecticide from Jiangsu Yangnong Chemical Co., Ltd. An analog of transfluthrin and other poly-fluorinated phenyl pyrethroids.
  • aminotipyr– A fungicide from Qingdao KingAgroot Chemical Compound Co., Ltd. The mode-of-action has not been reported.
  • cyclobunofen – A fungicide from Qingdao KingAgroot Chemical Compound Co., Ltd. An analog of cyclobutrifluram from Syngenta, a MET II mitochondrial electron transport inhibitor.
  • fendioxypyracil – A herbicide from BASF SE. An interesting twist on the classic N-phenylimide series of PPO inhibitors in which the pyrimidinone is now attached to a pyridine instead of the typical benzene.
