BCPC’s Online UK Pesticide Guide – New products and approvals August 2025

4th August 2025

Updates to UKPG database in August 2025

The amendment of the expiry dates of the many flufenacet and glyphosate formulations continues whilst the other amendments are listed below.  As the UK government negotiates a ‘new deal’ with Europe, one of the proposals is that we accept EU pesticide legislation.  Does this mean that the loss of glyphosate and soon flufenacet from Northern Ireland will also happen in GB?  Perhaps limitations will only apply to crops to be exported to Europe but that would bring logistical nightmares!

New Approvals:

  • Corteva has a new herbicide mixture for use in winter oilseed rape in both GB and NI. It contains aminopyralid, halauxifen-methyl and picloram so it should be powerful.  The name chosen is LaDiva (M21346) which perhaps reflects the limitations that come with both aminopyralid and picloram.  The approval states that it can only be used on the same field every 3 or 4 years according to the time of application and it has just been upgraded to a full entry on receipt of a label from Corteva.
  • Bayer has added bulb onions, garlic, leeks, salad onions and shallots to the Aprovia Plus, Ceratavo Plus and Kavatur Plus, Velogy Plus labels (M19174, M17865, M19566, and M17866, benzovindiflupyr) to complement the cereal crops already listed on the labels. On these alliums it will undoubtedly be effective against rusts but a new label has not yet been received.
  • Bayer also has a new approval for Bacillus amyloliquefaciens strain QST 713 in Serenade Soil Activ (M21293) which, unlike the other Serenade products, is only approved for use in potatoes where it will enhance root growth and have activity on tuber diseases present at planting.
  • Agrii has Defy mimic in Cleancrop Oppose (M21340, prosulfocarb) which, like Defy, is approved for use on winter wheat, winter barley and potatoes. Agrii has also duplicated its approval of Cleancrop Forward (M18145, 400 g/l propyzamide) under the new name of Cleancrop P400 (M21350) with identical recommendations.
  • Barclay has an experimental permit allowing sale of a Centurion Max mimic called Dedalus (M31341, 120 g/l clethodim) until 28/2/2029.
  • BASF has a new approval for Picona (M21347, pendimethalin + picolinafen) with the approval of the original (M13428) expiring 31/12/2026.
  • Sharda has duplicated its deltamethrin product Deserve (M19504) with a new MAPP No (M21339) but with the same name, expiry date and approvals. Sharda also now has a Siltra Xpro mimic in Aero (M21361, bixafen + prothioconazole) and a Flyer/Comet mimic in Flourish (M21357, pyraclostrobin).  However, whilst the latest approval of Flyer allows 2 x 1.0 l/ha, the Sharda’s product approval allows 2 x 1.25 l/ha!
  • FMC has duplicated Finish SX, Presite SX and Refine Max SX with a new MAPP Nos (M21259, 21372 & 21373) metsulfuron + thifensulfuron). The originals now expire around the end of 2026 while the new approvals run until Feb 2029.  A similar duplication and change of expiry dates has also been made to Omnera LQM (M18758 & M21363, fluroxypyr + metsulfuron + thifensulfuron).
  • Adama has duplicated Leopard 5EC (quizalofop-p-ethyl) with a new MAPP No (M21026) for use in GB only. The approval of M21026 run until 31/5/2032 in GB but the original which covers GB and NI expires 30/6/2029.
  • Life Scientific has made a business from generics but now have branched out to novel mixtures. The company has gained approval for a mixture of metconazole and prothioconazole called LS Prothio Metco (M21231) which is approved only for use in GB.  The crops on the label are wheat, spelt, triticale and durum wheat.
  • Life Scientific also now has a Recital mimic in LS Fluop-Prothio (M21374, fluopyram + prothioconazole) for disease control in oilseed rape.
  • Nufarm has a new fungicide product called Nuxine (M21329) that contains the biological extract cerivisane which is already available in Romeo (M19170) but Nuxine is approved on a new range of crops such as red beet, sugar beet and fodder beet, gold of pleasure, mustard, oilseed rape, spinach and spinach beet. Cerevisane is effective against downy mildew and botrytis but the Nuxine label has not been received yet and so it is listed as PAR.
  • Origin has a new diflufenican + flufenacet product in Parachute (M21344) which is approved in GB only but which is approved on both winter and spring wheat and barley.
  • Sipcam has a novel formulation of clomazone + pendimethalin in Bismark (M21290) which is approved for pre-emergence application in potatoes, combine and vining peas in both GB and NI.
  • Oro Agri has duplicated their orange oil product under a new MAOO No (M21348) but both the new approval and the original are set to expire 30/9/2026 so both are listed as PAR at the moment.
  • Globachem has a Propulse mimic in Puskas (M21349, fluopyram + prothioconazole) approved for use on oilseed rape only in GB and NI. Globachem also has duplicated its straight aclonifen product Bianchi with new names and MAPP Nos – Barbory (M21360) and Harniko (M21366).
  • Proplan-Plant has transferred its clopyralid product Bariloche (M17577) to Qemetica with a new MAPP No – M21370. Both are listed as PARs.
  • Clayton now has two Wolverine mimics in Clayton Libra and Clayton Quintus (M21353, fluxapyroxad + metconazole) and a Sunorg Pro mimic in Clayton Metaphor (M21352, metconazole) for use in both GB and NI.
  • UPL Europe has a new flowable formulation of maleic hydrazide in Fazor Flo (M21345) which, besides bulb onions and potatoes, can also be used on garlic and shallots.
  • Qemetica now has its own MAPP Nos for Metricam and Matecor New (M21355 & M21351, metribuzin) for use in GB only since all metribuzins expire in NI this year.
  • SIF Crop Science is a new supplier and has a Liberator mimic in SIFDiflannol (M21369, diflufenican + flufenacet) which is only approved in GB and which has been added as PAR. The company has no other approvals yet.
