BCPC's response to CRD Consultation on EPPO draft Guidance on Comparative Assessment in Efficacy Evaluation of Plant Protection Products
BCPC regards the concept of 'comparative assessment' as contentious because once an active ingredient or product has passed the registration process it will, ipso facto be 'safe' and should be available for use.
BCPC would also reiterate its view that there should be no targets for the number of products to be de-registered under this process. However, BCPC welcomes this consultation and the opportunity to submit comments on the draft guidance document prepared by the European Plant Protection Organisation (EPPO).
