Updated e-Pesticide Manual – the most comprehensive source of pesticide information in the world

News Releases

28 October 2004

The latest version of the The e-Pesticide Manual, now available from BCPC, makes it easy to keep up-to-date with the very latest pesticide information. Edited by Dr Clive Tomlin, The e-Pesticide Manual version 3.1 updates the printed thirteenth edition of The Pesticide Manual and version 3.0 of the CD, providing new data and a new screen layout which now operates via tabs, making navigation simpler and operation more user-friendly.

"This updated version 3.1 allows the user to extract data quickly and effectively," explains editor, Dr Clive Tomlin. "There are an additional 19 new records on the CD of which ten are new substances and a further six older, minor substances included for the first time. A further three pheromones have also been added and toxicological data are now included for a large number of superseded entries. In total the CD now contains over 8,200 product names including 1,600 discontinued products which must make it one of the most comprehensive and up-to-date global pesticide reference sources."

Toxicological and physico-chemical data have been revised in line with new data supplied by manufacturers. Also included for the first time are Smiles codes – useful for chemists who will now be able to directly enter chemically meaningful structures into structure-handling software.

Speedy access to information

The e-Pesticide Manual version 3.1 is easy to install and allows users to access and search all the data that appear in the book in a totally interactive way. The CD software for PCs enables users to undertake their own complex tailor-made searches. Information can be customised to download or print, direct links made to websites of manufacturers and crop protection organisations and chemical structure graphics exported for use in presentations. Network users can also export physico-chemical data directly into spreadsheets for detailed data analysis.

Copies of The e-Pesticide Manual version 3.1 on CD are £250 + VAT and overseas delivery. Users can buy versions 3.1 and 3.2 now for £500 + VAT and overseas delivery and automatically receive version 3.2 as soon as it is published in 2005.
