New Weed Management Handbook

30 September 2002

The Weed Management Handbook is the new title for the totally updated ninth edition of the Weed Control Handbook (1990). This definitive reference book on weed management has been fully rewritten by a team of crop protection specialists and takes account of new weed management practices.

The change of title and contents from previous editions reflects the current emphasis on producing crops in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way and the new weed management challenges currently being faced.

Published for the British Crop Production Council (BCPC) by Blackwell Publishing, the handbook contains chapters written by acknowledged experts in their field, drawn together and edited by Professor Robert E L Naylor, known and respected for his knowledge in this area.

The chapters follow a sequence of progression from the biology of weeds, through the underpinning science and technology relating to weed management techniques including herbicides and their application, leading to principles in weed management techniques. Finally there are case studies which consider the main management options and challenges of reduced chemical options in a range of crop species.

The Weed Management Handbook is an essential tool for all those involved in crop protection and the agrochemical industry including business managers, horticultural and agricultural scientists, plant physiologists and botanists and those studying and teaching BASIS courses.

Copies of the 464-page book, Weed Management Handbook, priced £99.50, are available from BCPC Publications Sales, Bear Farm, Binfield, Bracknell, Berks, RG42 5QE, UK.
