News Releases BCPC in the spotlight at Cereals 12 June 2009 BCPC was in the spotlight at this year's Cereals with Dr Colin Ruscoe, chairman of BCPC being interviewed for the Country Channel. As well has outlining the future aspirations for BCPC, Dr Ruscoe was asked for his thoughts on bioenergy and GM. The interview will be posted on the BCPC website in the near future. This year's event, sponsored by HSBC, was held at Vine Farm, Wendy, near Royston, Cambridgeshire over 10 and 11 June, and despite some mixed weather attracted farmers from across the UK as well as a number from European countries. New to the event was a Pellet and Pelleting Arena which was estimated to have attracted some 1,000 people who watched 17 demonstrations held during the two days of the show. This feature was part of the Get Pelletwise campaign co-ordinated by the Metaldehyde Stewardship Group, to help safeguard the future of metaldehyde and all slug pellet products. It was an ideal opportunity to promote BCPC's latest handbook “Spreading Fertilisers and Applying Slug Pellets” which was edited by Bill Basford, who was the commentator for the demonstrations. The event was also a platform for BCPC to promote its complete range of Publications and on-line resources as well as the forthcoming BCPC Congress which is being held in Glasgow UK, in November 2009. |
