News Releases

17 February 2009

Delegates at this year's British Crop Production Congress can look forward to a fresh approach when they convene at the Scottish Exhibition & Conference Centre in Glasgow in November.

An important industry alliance has been formed between Farmers Guardian and the British Crop Production Council (BCPC).

Farmers Guardian and BCPC have reached an agreement to partner the running of the world-famous BCPC Congress and Exhibition.

The move has been welcomed by both organisations and is an excellent example of two leading businesses pooling their areas of expertise to benefit the global crop production industry.

The partnership brings in Farmers Guardian's strong understanding of farmers' practical needs at home and abroad. Indeed, its outstanding success as the provider of must-have news, business and technical information in both online and in hard-copy has justifiably earned it the title of the UK's leading national agricultural newspaper.

The strength of Farmers Guardian's parent company United Business Media is its core conference and exhibition business, which operates from India and China, to North and South America, Europe and the former Soviet Union.

This will bring to the partnership a global expertise gained from working in trade-sensitive markets. UBM will also help with funding to bring the vast knowledge base and contacts provided by the BCPC Congress and Exhibition, traditionally held in the UK, to overseas locations strong in farming and food production.

BCPC also organises technical events and operates a successful technical publishing business which includes the UK Pesticide Guide; The Pesticide Manual; a range of School Books, aimed, at Key Stage 1 in the national curriculum, and numerous advisory and training handbooks for farmers and advisers. BCPC includes in its membership top class scientists, researchers, advisers, consultants.

BCPC is now keen to work along side Farmers Guardian and UBM Conferences to formulate a successful 2009 market-led BCPC Congress and Exhibition at the Scottish Exhibition & Conference Centre in Glasgow from 9th-11th November.
