4 April 2008

BCPC is pleased to announce that Martin Lainsbury has been appointed editor of The UK Pesticide Guide and its on-line version www.plantprotection.co.uk, following the retirement of long serving editor, Dick Whitehead.

Announcing the appointment Chris Todd, Managing Director BCPC said, “Securing the services of Martin Lainsbury is important to the continued editorial excellence of The UK Pesticide Guide, which has now reached its 21st edition and regarded as the industry’s leading source of current, practical pesticide data. Martin is an experienced crop protection professional, with a significant track record of publishing papers and technical articles together with editing the works of others. He is also keen to develop our new on-line product www.plantprotection.co.uk.”

Martin, previously a national sugar beet expert, is widely known and respected by growers, processor and pesticide companies involved in this industry. He now runs his own agricultural consultancy where he drafts efficacy overviews for Pesticides Safety Directorate (PSD) Approval of Pesticides, consults for KWS sugar beet seed varieties, drafts labels for companies and conducts one-to-one farmer visits for Defra advising on catchment sensitive farming practices.

Over 6,000 UK and international crop protection practitioners are already using the current edition of the Guide which gives up-to-date product information for the main spraying season. It also provides valuable data on products approved in the horticulture, amenity and forestry sectors as well as offering advice on good practice, details of the latest legislative changes and environmental management plans.

The UK Pesticide Guide 2008 is available to purchase on-line at www.bcpcbookshop.co.uk or by phone from BCPC Publication Sales Tel: 01420 593200 for £39.50 plus £2.95 p&p. The new on-line version is available at www.plantprotection.co.uk for an annual registration fee of £75 plus VAT
