2000 BCPC Bursary Awards

13 November 2000

Awarding bursaries to overseas scientists to enable them to attend the BCPC Conference is one of the many contributions made by BCPC towards extending its mission to support the science and practice of crop protection into the international arena.

The aim of these bursaries is to enable a delegate, who due to lack of available funding, would otherwise be unable to attend. Not only does the delegate who attends the Conference benefit, but the information acquired can be passed onto colleagues and valuable links are also forged with fellow delegates from around the world.

Since the introduction of these awards in 1989, 33 bursaries have been awarded to scientists from a total of 24 countries.

In 2000 bursaries have been awarded to:

Dr L Hilje from the Plant Protection Unit of the Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center (CATIE), Tuuialba, Costa Rica.

Dr Larissa Kryuchkova from the Plant Protection Institute, Kiev, Ukraine.
