Welcome to BCPC News
BCPC News is a service provided free-of-charge by BCPC, and is distributed as an e-mail message addressed to individual recipients. The items included in BCPC News are selected by an Editor and not compiled by an automated news-aggregator. This occasional service will bring you links to on-line news items that are likely to be of interest or concern to those in the BCPC Community around the world. The frequency of publication is determined by the rate at which relevant news accumulates.
Because of the wide range of interests represented within the BCPC community – one of its strengths – the items selected for distribution cover a wide range of topics. However, BCPC News does not include routine items on the science and technology of crop production and crop protection or on crop and farm management, but instead has an emphasis on policy issues affecting crop production and crop protection and relevant matters of public concern. It is UK-centred but does include information from EU sources and from the USA and elsewhere. News items are usually be listed without comment. Inclusion of an item in BCPC News does not imply endorsement by BCPC. Occasionally BCPC News will include items about BCPC itself, its activities and its publications.
BCPC News is not intended to be a replacement for any of the news services already established for the various industry sectors represented within the BCPC community, nor is it intended to be comprehensive. Sometimes the items will make uncomfortable reading for the BCPC community – the intention is not to annoy, but rather to ensure that the BCPC community is aware of what is being said and discussed that has a bearing on our activities.
To avoid any issues with copyright, BCPC News does not reproduce the text of news items, but provides a 'live link' (URL) to the source. If a source requires readers to register before granting access, this will be only to the free section of that source – paid subscription will not be necessary for access to any item included in BCPC News.
BCPC News is a "one-way" service – it is not a discussion list. Recipients are not able to post to the list or to other members on the list. Any REPLY will go back only to the Editor of BCPC News.
