The Scientific Conference Programme

Sessions are being organised to cover a range of pest and disease issues, including pest and disease management on temperate, sub-tropical and tropical crops. The effects of climate change will also be featured, as will advances in biotechnology, resistance and innovative methods of pests and disease management.

Invited world authorities will discuss various specialist topics, including thrips, water-borne phycomycete pathogens and take-all. Others will cover a range of agronomic issues, including Decision Support Systems, Integrated Crop Management and Integrated Farming Systems.

Food safety will feature strongly in the 1998 Conference, with sessions devoted to highly topical subjects such as pesticide residues and the formation of the national and European food agencies.

Various environmental issues, including buffer zones and the effects of pesticides on non-target organisms will also be discussed.

Pesticide-related topics will include discussions of advances in seed treatments, packaging and waste disposal. As always, companies from around the world are invited to use the "new compounds" sessions as a springboard to announce their new products for pests and disease control.
