12-15 NOVEMBER 2001   BRIGHTON, UK

  Cyber Café 2001
 Keep in Touch

The BCPC Cyber Café in the Durham room will be open for use by delegates throughout the Conference.

This service allows delegates who have webmail to access their email accounts free of charge and so keep in touch with the office and family whilst in Brighton. Here delegates can read and print out incoming emails and reply and send new emails. The Cyber Café also offers free access to the Internet and world wide web.

 Get Set Up Beforehand

Please note this is a webmail service only, using an Internet web-browser. For technical reasons it is not possible to provide a service using e-mail clients like Outlook Express or Microsoft Outlook.

Many Internet Service Providers (ISPs) provide web access to their standard (POP3) e-mail services. If you do not already use this service, you will find the details on your ISP's website.

For ISPs who do not provide such webmail access, and for companies that do not permit webmail access to their e-mail servers, you may be able to use one of the 'web to e-mail' services such as "mail2web.com" or "mailstart.com". For this, you'll need to know the name of your POP3 e-mail server and your password.

 Test Before Leaving Home

We can help you set up your webmail account once you are in Brighton, but it would be best if you set it up BEFORE you leave home so that you can test it and be sure it works. You may need some help from your ISP or your company's IT department!

Also, remember to make a note of the web address of your Log-on page.

If your normal e-mail server cannot be accessed in this way, set up a temporary web-based e-mail account and re-direct your incoming e-mail to it while you're away from home. There are many free services available.
