'The Innovative Vector Control Consortium – its objectives and role in supporting projects for control of insect disease vectors'

The IVCC is a major research consortium which will develop new and better ways to control the transmission of insect borne disease

Its objectives are to produce improved insecticides and formulations and to provide improved tools for vector control decision making processes to be used at community levels in disease endemic countries to reduce disease transmission. Its mission is to improve health by enabling partnerships for the accelerated development and delivery of these new products and tools.

Five leading research institutions – the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University College Davis, California, Colorado State University and the Medical Research Council, South Africa – form the IVCC, which received a $50 million grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

The seminar will be used to describe the current and proposed portfolio of projects and the market research that has driven its development.
