Oxford Agricultural Trials (OAT) has been conducting a comprehensive range of field trials since it's inception in 1984, and compliant with GLP and ORETO since the schemes were introduced in 1991 and 1998 respectively. OAT can lead the client through protocol design best evaluation procedure, right through to presentation of results. When trials are carried out for the purpose of registration, OAC's expertise is often sought to ensure optimum experimental design. Residue trials - including operator exposure work – demonstration trials – and efficacy work can all be carried out on a range of soil types as our workforce is regionalised for optimum siting of the evaluation. Our own land in Oxfordshire is used for more complex trials and for poly-tunnel work.

Operation Bumblebee
Operation Bumblebee is sponsored and managed by Syngenta. The exhibit describes the background research and the environmental and agronomic benefits of the project. It aims to establish 1000 ha planted with a specialist seed mixture, which delivers vital pollen and nectar - the key food source of bumblebees - on 1000 farms across the UK over the next 3 years. This is to help to boost bumblebee numbers, which are in perilous decline.
In 2005 a number of key suppliers to Sainsbury’s joined the project. The Sainsbury’s Fresh Team have now fully bought in to the project, and are rolling it out to all its 300 UK growers.

Plant Impact specialises in plant stress relief. Their dynamic and uncompromising new approach to crop nutrition and health gives growers significantly increased marketable yields, more consistent quality with reduced inputs leading to better quality food and greater shelf life.
The company is chiefly concerned with solving the problems of abiotic stress including heat/cold stress, salinity stress, drought stress, light stress and water stress.
In addition to it’s anti-stress technologies Plant Impact has also developed BugOil a mite and insect control technology based on plant extracts and essential oils. BugOil has been extensively trialled against the leading synthetic standards having similar and sometimes better efficacy without the toxicity downsides.
Plant Impact has developed PiNT technology, a harvest maximiser technology that enhances growth habit and yield with reduced nutrient input, even from marginal soils. They have also developed Speedo technology for accelerated maturation of crops, earlier colour, sugar and harvest while improving the speed of nutrient uptake. CaT technology complements the range on offer and is geared to solving physiological disorders, improving shelf life and yield with reduced inputs.
UK based Plant Impact currently market products through a combination of distribution and licensing agreements across overseas markets. Many of their products can be incorporated into conventional fertilisers, and fungicides in liquid or powder form for greater added value.

Oxitec's RIDL ® technology harnesses the mating instincts of insects to suppress or eliminate pest populations. RIDL insects are sterile without a special food, present in the rearing facility but not in the wild. Once released, they seek out wild pest females and mate with them – but no offspring develop. This is an improvement on the Sterile Insect Technique because no damaging irradiation is required, and it can be used in many more insect control situations. Oxitec has demonstrated the species-specific technique in the lab in a number of insects and is collaborating to evaluate the control agents at commercial scale. Oxitec's modified pink bollworm has undergone two years of successful open field trials in the USA. Also in evaluation are strains of Medfly, Mexfly, codling moth and the mosquito, Aedes aegypti, that transmits yellow fever and dengue fever.
