Anti-counterfeit Programme
“Fighting illegal trade in PPPs across Europe”
The incidence of global counterfeiting and illegal traffic in plant protection products has been growing substantially over the past years. ECPA estimates that counterfeit and illegal plant protection products currently account for approximately 5% - 7% of the €7.5 billion European plant protection market.
Farmers using counterfeit and other illegal plant protection products containing often untested, unknown and non-approved active substances and other constituents pose serious risks not only to themselves and their livelihoods but also to the environment and consumer health.
ECPA is committed to combating the problem and is resourcing an active campaign against counterfeit and illegal PPPs.
ECPA calls on all major stakeholders to work together to minimise the import and use of counterfeit and illegally imported plant protection products.

International Institute of Bio-technology and Toxicology (IIBAT) is a registered society recognized by DSIR of GOI commissioned to undertake research programmes on the products of agrochemicals including chemical, biological, microbial and transgenic in origin and pharmaceuticals, to meet national and international registration mandates. Ever since its establishment in 1978, it has been evolving into a classic research institution capable of complying with international standards and protocols of research methodology.
Toxicology: Acute, sub-acute and chronic toxicity; genotoxic, immunotoxic, neuro, reproductive toxic, teratogenic and carcinogenicity studies; special studies- risk assessments, molecular toxicity, bio-monitoring by molecular methods; efficacy studies in animal models with drugs and herbal medicinal preparations and biotech based products.
Chemistry: Residue in food, agro exports and environmental fate studies in substrates, formulation analysis, storage stability and chemical analysis/equivalence and physico-chemical studies; bio-availability of drugs and pharmaceuticals.
Efficacy: Lab, field and green-house studies for very early bio-efficacy information. Also studies undertaken for efficacy evaluation against household pests using WHO protocols.
All studies carried out as per OECD-GLP compliance with OECD/EPPO/EPA/CIPAC/GAITONDE protocols.
A few facilities of the Institute are endorsed for GLP compliance by German Federal Bureau.
