The annual BCPC Conference runs over 4 days and this year the focus is Pests & Diseases. Starting on Monday 18 November 2002, the Monday Symposium will consider "The Global Challenge - Sustainable Food Production". The main conference programme begins on the morning of Tuesday 19 November with the traditional Bawden Memorial Lecture. This year the 29th Bawden Lecture will be given by Dr Jørgen Schlundt from the World Health Organisation. On the following two and half days a comprehensive programme of platform and poster sessions will take place. The Marketing Forum on Tuesday afternoon will address the subject of "Crop Protection Under Licence". Each year the Conference commences with a key note address presented by a leading worldwide authority in their subject. The 29th Bawden Memorial Lecture will be presented by Dr. Jørgen Schlundt, Co-ordinator of the Food Safety Programme, World Health Organisation (WHO), Geneva, Switzerland on the Tuesday morning of the conference. The programme for the week commences with the Monday Symposium which complements the Pests & Diseases theme and will address "The Global Challenge - Sustainable Food Production" Chaired by Mike Calvert from the Royal Agricultural Society of England, this Symposium explores how some of the market demands and factors have developed over time and how they differ between three major regions of the world. Building on these observations will enable the development of crop protection strategies to contribute towards the global challenge over the next 25 years. |
